Short Bio

In 1981 I co-founded, along with my father the late C. Kay Allen, The Human Development Institute through which I provided thousands of hours of individual, marriage and family therapy to a diverse client population, coordinated client work with other  professionals, and managed team of 12 full and part-time staff, plus a large volunteer network. During time I created and taught, along with other HDI staff, experiential programs in personal empowerment and interpersonal relationships which were taught in several cities, hundreds of times, and were known for their life-changing impact on thousands of people.

In 1992, I co-founded,  along with along with Preston C. Pond, The Center for Organizational Design to help leaders create and sustain high performance/high commitment organizations. Through the Center, we helped many companies improve their leadership, clarify their business strategy, streamline their design (processes, structure and systems) and create a culture in which employees feel and act like partners in the business. I led projects with small businesses and Fortune 500 companies such as AT&T Capital, Ashland Chemical, Coach Leatherware, The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (several radio stations), Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Honeywell, Merck Pharmaceuticals, Proctor & Gamble, The US Forest Service, Qwest, and many others.

I received my Bachelors in psychology from Brigham Young University in 1975 where I graduated summa cum laude and was nominated Valedictorian of the College of Social Sciences. I spent a year in graduate study in the field of Organizational Behavior at BYU before going to the University of Minnesota to complete a Ph.D. in Psychology.

An outdoor enthusiast, volunteer in my church and father of four adult children, I reside in Littleton, CO with my wife, Judy.

"When I first heard about the your work I did not envision what I would accomplish in terms of personal growth. It sounded wonderful because I had known other participants still glowing from their experiences. The course required work on my part but the effort created the extremely positive atmosphere in which I now live."
